Focus Features has handed out an August 21, 2015 release date for the upcoming horror sequel Sinister 2. The project will be going up against the Warner Bros. drama Me Before You next summer.

We reported in April that Ciaran Foy, who directed the indie thriller Citadel, will direct the sequel from a script by Sinister co-writers Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill. Scott Derrickson directed the original Sinister, which earned an impressive $87 million worldwide from just a $3 million production budget.

Ethan Hawke starred in Sinister as a true crime writer who moves into the house where a family was brutally murdered. He discovers foul supernatural forces at play within the house while researching his new book. No cast members have been confirmed for the sequel yet.

Scott Derrickson is also producing alongside Jason Blum, but it isn't known when production will get under way. With the release just 13 months away, don't be surprised to hear much more about this sequel in the very near future.
