It seems that the fans of one of the CW Network's longest-running shows might have another season to look forward to. Entertainment Weekly's Ausiello Files recently spoke with Smallville executive producer Kelly Souders who revealed that they are "pushing" for a 10th season of the popular series.

"We are really, really pushing for season 10," Souders told the site. "We really hope it happens."

While Smallville's ratings have declined since moving to Friday nights this season, it seems that the drop hasn't been as bad as originally perceived, and Souders even thinks the numbers can increase.

"I think the word still isn't out there that we're on Friday nights. So if people keep tuning in and telling their friends about it, I think [a 10th season] is quite likely."

Souders was also asked if fans would ever get to see series star Tom Welling don the iconic Superman costume in the series, which was met with an interesting response.

"We think Smallville from the get-go was about how a young man turns into Superman. And it's really about the journey getting there. I can't make any promises, but if it was ever going to happen, it would be at the very end."
