Johnny Lewis, best known for playing Kip "Half-Sack" Epps on Sons of Anarchy died Wednesday after either falling or jumping from the roof of a Los Angeles home, where an 81-year-old woman was found dead inside.

Local authorities believe the actor killed the woman, identified as Catherine Davis. It is believed that he rented a room out of her house. Johnny Lewis was seen fighting with neighbors after his alleged altercation with Davis. He was then spotted climbing onto the roof of the house, and was later found dead in the driveway. There are unconfirmed reports that he was using "smiles," a new synthetic drug, at the time of his death.

Johnny Lewis played Half-Sack in the first two seasons of Sons of Anarchy before being killed off in the Season 2 finale. He was asked to be let out of his contract due to creative differences. Series creator Kurt Sutter released a statement regarding the actor's passing earlier today.

"It was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. I wish i could say that I was shocked by the events last night, but I was not. I am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. Yes, it's day or mourning, but it's also a day of awareness and gratitude. Sadly, some of us carry the message by dying."

The actor also starred in films such as The Runaways with Kristen Stewart, and Lovely Molly.
