Sony Denies ‘Ghostbusters 3’ Animation Rumors

Ghostbusters 3 animation rumor shot down by Sony At this point, it is hardly clear whether or not Ghostbusters 3 will ever see the light of day, after countless delays. This morning, a new report surfaced that indicated Sony wants to move forward with an animated version of Ghostbusters 3. Here's an excerpt from that article.

"Thanks to the team's failed attempts [and] dedication to bring Bill Murray back into the fold as Dr. Peter Venkman, the project has been in development hell for the better part of a decade. What's interesting is the roundabout news that, once again, Sony is looking to do Ghostbusters 3 as an animated film, a source exclusively reveals to Bloody Disgusting. This was the original plan back in 2007, which eventually resulted in the incredible 2009 video game."

However, that news has already been debunked by a Sony executive, who insists that they are continuing to develop Ghostbusters 3 as a live-action project, with Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson attached to star.

Back in October, we reported that Sony won't make a final decision about whether or not they will make Ghostbusters 3 until sometime this spring. With that spring "deadline" approaching, hopefully we find out, once and for all, if this sequel will ever be made, one way (live-action) or another (animation).

Ghostbusters comes to theaters July 15th, 2016.

THERE'S SOMETHING STRANGE in the fact that can't come to an agreement. Seems like Murray no longer has a connection to Venkman as he did before. I mean, he could have said no to GB2. Maybe Murray will only agree to a VoiceOver but the studio still wants it a live-action and only if he agrees to be in it. This has been going on for years, it's crazy. This movie would be up Anna Faris's alley (Scary Movie 2). Though not similar enough due to the one having an original story with the other being the parody, Scary Movie films, which lack in this aspect of the comparison. Someone involved may have a spook or two influencing the decision as the making the film goes.

Not excited for this as I was years ago. I kinda just want them to trash it.

There are so many names attached to this project. I have not been a big proponent of it, but regardless of that, they need to come to a decision soon, because they people attached must be nervous and annoyed as hell because of this wait.
