The Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand is still seeking a replacement for its leading man Andy Whitfield after he left the show back in September. Deadline is reporting that the leading candidates for the job are actors Stephen Amell, Aiden Turner and Liam McIntyre.

Andy Whitfield was forced to leave the show after he was diagnosed with Stage 1 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. At the time, it wasn't immediately clear if the show would re-cast the title role, although the producers ultimately agreed to continue the show and re-cast. We reported just last month that Prison Break star Wentworth Miller was interested in the role, although it seems that never materialized.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand's Season 2 production has been put on indefinite hold until the lead can be replaced. It isn't clear when Season 2, which was originally slated to air in January, will debut. However, the prequel series, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, will still premiere in January 2011.
