‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’ Loses Lesley-Ann Brandt

The actress who played Naevia will be moving on, while Starz re-cast the role for the returning series.

Lesley-Ann Brandt is leaving Spartacus: Blood and SandLesley-Ann Brandt will not appear in the upcoming second season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand. The actress portrayed Naevia in the series, a part that will now be re-cast. Naevia is a slave to Lucy Lawless' Lucretia character, and the lover of Manu Bennett's character, Crixus.

The actress decided not to renew her contract for the Starz program. She also appears in the prequel series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, which premiered last month. Lesley-Ann Brandt recently landed a recurring role on CSI: NY and is also auditioning for roles on upcoming pilots.

We reported a month ago that Liam McIntyre is the new Spartacus on the series, replacing Andy Whitfield, who had to bow out to undergo cancer treatments.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand will start production on Season 2 in the very near future.
