When production wrapped on Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming last month, that began the long wait for the first trailer, which has been rumored to be attached to Disney's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story next month. That report hasn't been confirmed, and while we wait for more details on this superhero adventure, a new video has surfaced, albeit one you may not expect. Director Jon Watts took to social media today to share a bizarre behind-the-scenes sneak peek of star Tom Holland performing some facial capture work, as post-production continues.

The Instagram video is only a couple of seconds long, with Tom Holland joking that this process was awkward enough while he was wearing the costume, as he's seen performing a number of grunts and other sounds while several different cameras are capturing his work. We can see the actor pretending to shoot one of Spidey's web shooters in this brief video, and while this appears to be some sort of an action scene, no details were given about where it fits into the story. One Instagram user did have an interesting theory about what these shots may be used for, though.

While we can see Tom Holland performing in the background of the video, the foreground features a monitor that shows six different camera feeds, all showing his face at different angles, with one even positioned upside down. Given how the cameras are framed, one Instagram user dubbed "hellohessa" speculated that this could mean Peter Parker's new Spidey suit could feature, "some Iron Man helmet type of deal." The "Iron Man helmet type of deal" has not been confirmed, but it wouldn't be terribly surprising if it did happen.

Earlier this month, early concept art from Captain America: Civil War revealed that the Spider-Man beacon Peter Parker was using in the post-credit scene, originally had a secret message to the youngster, telling him to come by Avengers Tower to check out some "upgrades" on his Spider-Man suit. It's possible that one of these upgrades is a mask that features A.I. upgrades like the Iron Man suit, but we don't have any confirmation of that quite yet. We have seen the Spider-Man suit in set photos while Spider-Man: Homecoming was in production, but there was never any indication of bulky metal mask.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will bring back Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, who recruited him to fight for Team Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War. We got our first look at Peter's Spidey skills during the the massive airport fight scene, but Tom Holland recently teased that Spider-Man doesn't actually punch anyone in this new movie. Tom Holland also recently confirmed that he has signed on for six Spider-Man movies, three of which will represent the trilogy started by Spider-Man: Homecoming, and three more appearances in future Marvel movies. It's possible that Tom Holland will return as Spidey in Avengers: Infinity War, but that hasn't been set in stone yet. While we wait for more on Spider-Man: Homecoming, take a look at the new set video below.
