‘Spider-Man’ Reboot Eyeing Emma Roberts and Teresa Palmer for Gwen Stacy?

Emma Roberts could play Gwen Stacy in Untitled Spider-Man reboot With Andrew Garfield already set to play Peter Parker in Marc Webb's Untitled Spider-Man Reboot, the casting has now shifted to the female lead character, Gwen Stacy. Heat Vision Blog is reporting that Emma Roberts, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, Ophelia Lovibond, Lily Collins and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are a few of the actresses vying for the role.

The site reports that the actresses have been meeting with both director Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield and that the new film will feature Gwen Stacy, who was portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard in Spider-Man 3, as Peter Parker's love interest instead of Mary Jane Watson. However, it was said that the script pages these actresses have received did not indicate what character they were reading for. So they could either be trying out for Gwen Stacy or an unspecified new character.

It was also stated that the actresses have not undergone screen tests, only that they were taking meetings and early readings for the role. Columbia representatives wouldn't comment on the story and it was also said that another round of meetings could happen this weekend. And that other actresses that they didn't name are in contention for the role as well.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further updates on the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot as soon as we have more information.

The Amazing Spider-Man was released July 3rd, 2012.

It's that reason among others why I don't mind a reboot of SM, @Phillip Wilcox - and since this will focus on Peter and Gwen, his REAL first love, that makes it anticipation worthy.

I don't know, am I wrong for feeling like i'm getting tired of Spider Man now?? I mean It's like someone cooking food that is delicious for the first time and new and fresh (the first Spider Man), and then someone repeatedly reheating the sh*t out of that food 4 times lol. How can someone serve up the same food and make it good again so people will welcome back with open arms?? I mean the whole plot point between Peter Parker and Mary Jane was left as a bit of a bummer, i mean didn't Peter back hand or slap Mary in Spider Man 3?? lol Dude what the hell haha. And they just left it at that if memory serves me, so, I don't know. They kinda lost me at that point in the movie. Not that i was huge die hard fan of the comic books enough to bitch about how different it was to the movie, cuz frankly i didn't care that much about that (sorry to the enormously die hard fans of the Spider Man comics). But movie wise, yeah, when his hand make contact with her face (accident or not) i was kinda put off with the direction the whole plot took.

I agree Diaigma. Heard seems to rumored for every female lead in the Marvel Universe.

Source, @Insidernews? - either way, she's a good choice too!

Now that I think of it, I'm surprised Amber Heard didn't make the list.

              @Kauaicr07 - thanks for that (copy and paste job?), I think . . . :P

i like @diaigmas outline of the series but they would have 2 shoot all of those movies back to back if they wanted all the actors to stay young altho a 61 year old spiderman fighting dudes would be pretty funny and my vote is for teresa palmer

@ejk & @ Diaigma - Nice outlines. Cant really argue with either of them. I agree also with @insert: Goblin, Venom, and Lizard need background stories. The rest can be tossed into a movie and work. Ala TDK.

@ejk1 - yeah, my initial outlines tend to be huge. I've yet to finish a first draft that's less than 100K words. Pathetic, I know, but it gives me room to cut stuff later. I don't think these outlines would make 3.5 hour long movies. 2.5 maybe, which is fine for me. Thanks :)

Good point, @(Insert) - I don't think anyone would care about the lesser liked villains having no origin story. Basically, a super hero film can get away with two villains if only one of them has a development story, and the other is already there without any background given. What killed Spider-Man 3? Two villain origins and a third that was developed over the first 2.

He confirmed the whole thing at an interview, that they were just redrafting his Spidey 4 screen play for the reboot, that how they've got the screenplay done so fast...

@ejk1 loooool Diaigma always does massive story arc outlines, one of the many reason we love him here looool

The Joker didn't need a backstory, and Two-Face's origin was built up through-out the entire film. Villains like Goblin, Venom, and Lizard need that backstory.

Interesting choices for the lead female role.

Ok I know its a reboot but for all the villain's why do we have to be back story's, why not take a leaf from "The Dark Knight" and just have them show up and cause destruction and have spiderman try and stop them saves screen time from more action

i still wanna see the scorpion as a villain in a SM movie. he was always my fav villain when i used to read the comics. him and the hobgoblin. i'm tired of green goblin. hopefully they wont go down that road again since they've already done it in 3 movies.

@Diaigma, I love what you wrote, but there's just one problem: Each movie would be like three and a half hours long, lol. After Spider-Man 3 I don't think anyone wants Sandman, and to be honest the thought of two or three villains per movie may bloat the movie. I agree that the first movie should not be an origin movie, since we already had that less than ten years ago. And if they make Harry the Hobgoblin, I think CBF may go crazy. Many people don't like Kraven, but it's okay- I was just throwing names out there. I am also angry that Marvel decided to not make any more Spectacular Spider-Man episodes, and for that matter, Wolverine and the X-Men. both were good, and deserved to continue. I was really looking forward to the Age of Apocalypse storyline in season 2 on Wolverine.
