The long planned sequel to Spike Lee's 2006 hit Inside Man is finally getting underway. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee is back behind the lens, with screenwriter Terry George set to pen this new tale. Original producer Brian Grazer is also planning to return.

At this time, the film is simply titled Inside Man 2. The story will pick up where the characters last left off, but the storyline will be dramatically different than the first. Lee explained that the narrative would focus on the relationship between the two lead characters, as played by Clive Owens (a bank robber) and Denzel Washington (a hostage negotiator). This time, they will be thrown into another highly tense situation.

Lee stated that both Owens and Washington were interested in returning for a second go around. About original screenplay writer Russell Gewirtz, Lee said, "I want the script to be even better than Russell's, and Russell wrote a really good script." At this time, the film does not have a set start date.
