FilmDistrict has announced an October 11th, 2013 release date for director Spike Lee's remake of the Korean cult classic Oldboy.

The film, which is currently shooting in New Orleans, stars Josh Brolin as a man who seeks revenge on his captors after being locked away in a hotel room for fifteen years. This version is said to stick closer to the original comic book up which it is based, than Chan-wook Park's beloved 2005 original did.

FilmDistrict will be opening Oldboy against Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Keener, and the 3D re-release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
