A series of new posters reveal our latest look at Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Octavia Spencer in Spirited, a modern musical retelling of the festive classic A Christmas Carol. And things are looking pretty classy. Revealed via the official Twitter account for Ryan Reynolds, this set of black-and-white posters show off the all-star trio as they bring the age-old Charles Dickens tale to life once more. You can check out the latest look at Spirited below.

The posters find celebrated comic actors Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds together at last, with Reynolds, in particular, seeming to be hugely enjoying the experience as he hugs up against Ferrell in one of the warmest embraces ever photographed. The rest of the posters offer a glimpse at Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer, Ryan Reynolds practicing what are sure to be some killer dance moves, and finally, Will Ferrell smiling. No doubt as he reminisces about that hug from Reynolds mentioned earlier.

Spirited has been described as “a modern musical reimagining of the classic Christmas ghost story A Christmas Carol.” Of course, Dickens’ original tale is now a beloved classic and tells the story of the short-tempered and effortlessly selfish Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future. This being a Christmas tale, the story ends with Scrooge learning the error of his ways and being transformed into a much kinder and gentler person. Oh, spoiler warning for a story that was first published in 1843 and has since become one of the most well-known stories of all time.

Directed by Sean Anders and John Morris of Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home 2, and Instant Family fame, the official synopsis for Spirited reads; “A musical version of the classic Christmas story by Charles Dickens. A miserly man who treats everyone around him with terrible selfishness finds himself on a fantastical adventure into the three phases of time: past, present, and future, in order to discover how he ended up so miserable and alone."

Ryan Reynolds Found Spirited a Rather Challenging Experience

Spirited will be led by Ryan Reynolds as Ebeneezer Scrooge, with Will Ferrell on board as Present aka the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Octavia Spencer, whose role has not yet been revealed. The rest of the cast includes the likes of Sunita Mani as Past, Aimee Carrero as Nora, Marlow Barkley as Wren, Jen Tullock as Wendy, P.J. Byrne as Mr. Alteli, and Joe Tippett.

Reynolds has described Spirited as being a major challenge for him. "That's a wrap for me on Spirited,” the actor and Deadpool star said when he wrapped filming back in October last year. “Not sure I'd have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago. Singing, dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great Octavia Spencer... Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I'm gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists. These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I've been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both."

Spirited is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 11, 2022, and later on Apple TV+ on November 18, 2022. No doubt it is already all set to become a holiday favorite.
