Sony Pictures is planning to launch a new production house entitled Stage 6 Films. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they will release anywhere from ten to fifteen films a year, all with a budget of $10 million dollars or less.

The new production banner will both acquire and produce various film projects. They plan on shooting a number of prequels and sequels that are already familiar with audiences. Starship Troopers: Marauder, starring the original's Casper Van Dien is one of the many sequels set to go before cameras soon. Also on the slate for release are Conspiracy, starring Val Kilmer, Gary Cole and Jennifer Esposito and directed by Adam Marcus, and Dark Country starring Thomas Jane, who also is directing, and Lauren German.

SPWAG's Adrian Alperovich stated, "The distribution pattern for each movie is not decided beforehand. Some will go theatrically, but it's not determined who will distribute and how wide. That is dependent on the commercial potential of each film."
