Star Trek 2 has already been slated for release on July 29, 2012, even though the script isn't completed yet. Co-writer/producer Roberto Orci indicated he and co-writer Alex Kurtzman are waiting to hear suggestions from J.J. Abrams on the story. Here's what he had to say below.

"Just been waiting for J.J. to be free to really decide if he likes the story and hear his suggestions before we finish the script. Once he says go, we'll have it in no time. Meanwhile, our outline is detailed enough (70+ pages!) to do some prep."

We reported earlier this month that J.J. Abrams will commit his full attention to Star Trek 2, once he is finished with his next movie, Super 8, which hits theaters on June 10. Roberto Orci indicated J.J. Abrams has been giving some feedback on Star Trek 2, even during his busy Super 8 post-production schedule.

"In the meetings we've had with J.J., he's already given us amazing input and ideas, and that's been while he's been up to his eyeballs in Super 8."

J.J. Abrams has still not agreed to direct Star Trek 2 yet, although the director recently indicated an official announcement should be coming soon.
