While Suicide Squad has positioned itself to have the soundtrack of the summer, with a release that is being compared to Guardians of the Galaxy's Awesome Mix Vol. 1, it's not the only movie arriving over the course of the next few months that has movie music aficionados excited. We're also getting a new Ghostbusters soundtrack and score, which was announced last week. And Star Trek Beyond is also getting a release that should excite fans of both the franchise and genre itself.

First up, it has been announced that pop sensation Rihanna will have a song prominently featured in the movie. Titled 'Sledgehammer', we have a look at the Star Trek Beyond themed cover art for this 45, which is being released as a single. The song hasn't debuted for a listen just yet, but we do get to see Rihanna all Trekked out in alien make-up, with the colorful background that has become prominent in recent marketing materials for this third in the reboot saga.

Fan favorite composer Michael Giacchino is providing the score for Star Trek Beyond. And we get a look at that artwork as well. It repurposes an earlier teaser poster featuring the U.S.S. Enterprise. Perhaps even more exciting is that we get the full track list. And as suspected, it does give us a nice outline of the plot without really giving away too many spoilers. Though if you want to go in fresh, we suggest you stop reading now.

As expected, this record will kick off with the opening theme music titled 'Logo and Prosper'. It segues into Chris Pine's opening Stardate monologue with track number 2, 'Thank Your Lucky Star Date'. We've previously heard that the movie begins with the original crew midway through their five year mission. When we meet back up with them, they are all tired and in need of a break. And the next few tracks suggest that they will be getting a little R&R on the newly introduced Space station Yorktown.

Track #3 suggest that our crew will be splitting up as they go out for a 'Night on the Yorktown'. But as we've seen in the previous trailer, this doesn't bode well for our heroes, as Yorktown comes under fire. Track 4 suggests there will be some fun as fans get to experience 'The Dance of the Nebula'. But this is followed by the attack that sets up the rest of the movie, separating the U.S.S. Enterprise on the planet below the space station, with Track 5 titled 'A Swarm Reception' and Track 6 titled 'Hitting the Saucer a Little Hard'.

As you can see, Michael Giacchino is having a lot of fun with the track titles. Track #7 will introduce Sofia Boutella's new character with 'Jaylah Damage'. Track 8 is sure to send your imagination spinning with 'In Artifacts as in Life'. And from the midpoint of the album, it becomes increasingly harder to guess what is going on in the plot without having actually seen the movie. Track 9, titled 'Frankly My Dear', most likely belongs to Karl Urban's Bones. And then Spock gets Track 10 with 'A Lesson in Vulcan Mineralogy'. Then comes track 11, which teases Chris Pine's big motorcycle action scene as Captain Kirk. It is titled, 'MotorCycles of Relief' and suggests that he saves some of his crew from an as yet unidentified threat.

Sofia Boutella appears to be a very crucial character to the plot as she gets her own second track titled 'Mocking Jaylah'. Track 13, 'Crash Decisions', comes with the promise of explosions and heavy action. And then we have the very playful track #14, 'Krall-y Krall-y Oxen Free'. This is followed by Track 15, 'Shutdown Happens'.

The final three tracks bring us to the rousing climax, hinting at what happens to Idris Elba's new villain. It doesn't sound good for him, with Track 16 promising to send him into space with 'Cater-Krall in Zero G'. The movie will end with Captain Kirk and his crew celebrating their victory, highlight by Track 17 titled, 'Par-Tay for the Course'. And the final Track 18 is where we get the 'Star Trek Main Theme'. All and all, this soundtrack list makes it sound like a fun sci-fi adventure movie and perhaps not the intelligent, smart, sophisticate sequel that some Trekkies were holding out for.

Fans can pre-order the Star Trek Beyond soundtrack album on Amazon right now. It is currently only available on CD, but a vinyl release is likely planned for a future date. The soundtrack will arrive July 29, with the movie arriving in theaters a few days earlier on July 22. After stopping off at Starbase Earhart, a remote outpost on the fringes of Federation space, the USS Enterprise, halfway into their five-year mission, is destroyed by a powerful, unstoppable wave of unknown aliens. With the crew stranded on a unknown planet and with no apparent means of rescue, they find themselves in conflict with a new ruthless enemy who has a well-earned hatred of the Federation and what it stands for. Take a look at the soundtrack and single cover art.
