Although there aren't many details about J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek sequel, rumors are coming from the set that the movie won't be called Star Trek 2. The franchise moved away from numerical sequel titles after the sixth original installment with Star Trek: Generations, but it is clear that the new film will also steer clear from the numbers.

The original crew for the 2009 remake will be back for seconds, including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Karl Urban with J.J. Abrams at the reigns.

Access Hollywod recently caught up with actress Zoe Saldana, who played Nyota Uhura in the first film, to talk about where the production currently lies:

"We still haven't gotten a script yet," she said of progress on the film, which Access has confirmed with a source will begin shooting in mid-January. "We're very excited to read it and get back into space."

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have penned the sequel, and a release date is still to be determined.
