As long suspected, Adam Driver has officially been confirmed as Sith villain Kylo Ren in a new series of photos from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The character was finally unmasked for a new Vanity Fair photo shoot. While not much is known about this character just yet, expect to hate this particular Sith Lord a little more than previous villains. He is rumored to pull off one act so heinous, he'll never be redeemed.

Kylo Ren wasn't the only character revealed in the pages of Vanity Fair magazine. It has finally been announced that Lupita Nyong'o is playing a space pirate by the name of Maz Kanata. No further background was given for her character, but it is believed that she will help Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) on their quest to return a very powerful lightsaber to one of the few remaining Jedi Masters in the galaxy. We also get a six page spread of new alien characters and other creatures that will make up the backdrop for this new space adventure.

Today is officially known as Star Wars Day. And we're sure there will be more surprises along the way. Along with these new character reveals, we also get images of Oscar Isaac as X-Wing Fight Poe Dameron. J.J. Abrams is seen in two different photos. One finds him directing Daisy Ridley in the desert on her new sand speeder. The other finds him surrounded by Kathleen Kennedy and John Williams. Little is known about the true story behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The sequel takes place 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and features a new generation of swashbuckling heroes and shadowy villains, as well as the return of fan-favorite smugglers, princesses, and Jedi. Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz is responsible for all of these new images, which you can pick up in Vanity Fair at a newsstand near you.
