Just a few days before Comic-Con got under way, we reported that there will be no new trailer or footage released during the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel. The report was accurate, although fans did get a wonderful behind-the-scenes video from the production. Yet, many fans still wondered when the next trailer will arrive. LucasFilm president and producer Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that the third trailer will be released sometime this fall.

Unfortunately, and predictably, a specific release date was not given. This means that fans attending Disney's D23 Convention next month won't be seeing a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer either. LucasFilm is certainly spreading the footage out, with the first teaser debuting in late November, just a few weeks after production wrapped, and the second Star Wars trailer debuting in mid-April, during the first Star Wars Celebration panel. Director J.J. Abrams revealed at his Comic-Con panel in Hall H that he does have a cut of the movie complete, but there is still, most likely, plenty of post-production work left to be completed.

The first trailer didn't feature any of the original Star Wars cast members, but the second one did have Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) making their triumphant return. It remains to be seen if Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) or Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) will be featured in this third trailer. Regardless, at least we now when to expect the next batch of footage, which fans will be waiting for with bated breath. What do you hope is shown in the third, and possibly final, trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
