Last weekend, Mark Hamill revealed that production on Star Wars: Episode VIII will wrap on July 22, bringing an end to the five-month shoot. Over the past few days, director Rian Johnson has been sending out a few photos from the set through social media, while stars such as John Boyega (Finn) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) have revealed that they in fact have wrapped production. We very well may see many other actors reveal that they have wrapped over the next few weeks.

It's clear that the mood is still quite light on the set, with Rian Johnson sharing a "face-swap" photo with Daisy Ridley. It's worth noting that Daisy Ridley recently teased a new hairstyle in a workout video, although she was hiding the new do under a pillowcase. The director also shared a photo of the 100th call sheet, with the 100 turned into a smiley face. As for John Boyega, the actor shared an Instagram photo of him jumping for joy after wrapping production, while Anthony Daniel had this to say on Twitter.

"Sad yesterday. I wrapped on Ep VIII. Thanks to ALL the team especially David & Joe, Kathy & Ram, Jamie & of course RIAN. I have loved it. XX"

Star Wars 8 will begin directly where Star Wars: The Force Awakens left off, with Rey (Daisy Ridley) meeting Luke Skywalker on the remote planet of Ahch-To, where he has been hiding in exile at an ancient Jedi temple. There have been rumors that Rey begins her Jedi training under Luke Skywalker's tutelage in Star Wars 8, with other reports claiming that Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) has captured both Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), in an effort to lure Rey out of hiding for another lightsaber duel.

We also recently saw set photos featuring Skellig Michael Island, the location where the very last scene in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was shot, along with the very first scenes of Star Wars 8. With production winding down just as Comic-Con begins, it seems highly-unlikely that the first trailer will be shown there, but it's possible that they could confirm the full title for the first time. Friday is traditionally "Star Wars Day" at SDCC, but the schedule released today didn't feature any panels for Star Wars: Episode VIII.

All we know for sure is that Rian Johnson is directing from his own script, with Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) and Lupita Nyong'o (Maz Kanata) also reprising their roles from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This highly-anticipated sequel is set for release on December 15, 2017. We'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as more details come through. Until then, take a look at these new photos from the set of Star Wars: Episode VIII.
