Last year's blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens introduced fans to a number of new heroes and villains in this galaxy far, far away, including Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and the nefarious Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson). We also got our first look at the one villain who is really pulling all the strings, the massive Supreme Leader Snoke, portrayed through motion capture by Andy Serkis. All of these characters will be returning in Star Wars 8, although it seems there will be some interesting changes when it comes to Supreme Leader Snoke.

In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we only saw Supreme Leader Snoke in the form of a massive hologram, in scenes where he's addresing both Kylo Ren and General Hux. Since we only saw him through a hologram, some fans theorized that it may only be the holographic projection that is so large, and that the real Snoke is actually much smaller. A new report from Making Star Wars claims that Snoke will actually be portrayed practically in Star Wars 8, in the form of a massive puppet standing between seven and eight feet tall.

This report has yet to be confirmed by Disney or LucasFilm, but it also reveals that it takes "several people to operate" this practical version of Supreme Leader Snoke, who will have scenes next to "real flesh and blood humans" like Kylo Ren. There will also be a crew that operates Snoke's facial features for this larger-than-life puppet. There still may be sequences where Snoke is generated through a hologram for communication sequences. How large of a role Snoke will have in Star Wars 8 has not been determined.

Making Star Wars speculates that Snoke may meet with Kylo Ren, General Hux and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie, following the destruction of the Starkiller Base. It has already been confirmed that Star Wars 8 takes place just moments after Star Wars: The Force Awakens ends, with Rey meeting Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) at his hidden planet Ahch-To. It is believed that Rey will start her Jedi training with Luke Skywalker in this movie, and that Kylo Ren will lay a trap for her by capturing her friends Finn and Poe Dameron, to lure her into another fight. It's possible that Snoke meets with Kylo and the rest of the First Order leaders to set this plan in motion, but that's only speculation at this time.

Production wrapped on Star Wars 8 back in July, with fans waiting for the first trailer ever since then. A recent report claimed that the first footage wouldn't be released until early 2017, but a specific trailer premiere date has yet to be confirmed. We also don't know what the full title will be for Star Wars: Episode VIII yet, but there was a rumor that surfaced in May which claimed that the title will be Fall of the Resistance, although that has yet to be confirmed. With just one year and one week remaining until Star Wars 8 hits theaters, hopefully we'll find out more about this sequel very soon.
