Earlier today, Star Wars: The Force Awakens filmmakers J.J. Abrams, producer Kathleen Kennedy and writer Lawrence Kasdan shared new details about Harrison Ford from the set. As you may well know, LucasFilm recently announced the Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo Movie, which has Phil Lord and Chris Miller set to direct, with a May 25, 2018 release date already in place. Entertainment Weekly has even more details today about this highly-anticipated spinoff, with Kathleen Kennedy revealing the approximate age range they are looking for in a young Han Solo.

"He'll definitely be probably in the high teens, low 20s. We're not introducing you to a 10-year-old Han Solo."

The character will be approximately 15 years younger than Harrison Ford was when he played Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. When the Han Solo anthology movie was officially unveiled last month, the announcement stated that this movie will focus on how how young Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel who fans first met at the Mos Eisley Cantina in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. When asked how much of Solo's past will be uncovered, and how much will be left up in the air, Kathleen Kennedy had this to say.

"Those are exactly the questions we're asking. There's got to be a reason for [the stand-alone film] to be. And obviously the thing that Star Wars has always done so well is it doesn't spend a lot of time [explaining] the stories that have come before. We don't want to do that either. We don't want to spend time going back and answering a lot of questions that, quite frankly, I don't think people want answered. I think the key here is that we are identifying an event or events in Han Solo's life that gives you some idea of who he is and why he is the character we have all known to love."

The script is being written by Star Wars: The Force Awakens co-writer Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan, and, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller set to direct, fans can certainly expect an "entertaining and funny" movie, according to Kathleen Kennedy. Unfortunately, no specific story details were given. We still have nearly three years before Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo Movie hits theaters. Still, there are several aspects of this character that could be explored, such as his relationships with Greedo, Lando Calrissian, Jabba the Hut and even Han Solo's wife, who will be introduced in an upcoming Marvel comic book. Who do you think should play a 20-year-old Han Solo?
