With production already under way on Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, we knew it was only a matter of time before the first photos from the set were revealed. Today, Mirror Online has released the first photos from the set at Elstree Studios set, which gives us our first look at a few Stormtroopers. Unfortunately, we don't get a look at any of the major stars, but hopefully we'll get our first look at the cast members soon.

The story will center on a group of Rebel Alliance soldiers who go on a mission to steal the Empire's plans for the original Death Star. Felicity Jones leads the cast that also includes Riz Ahmed, Sam Claflin, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn and Forest Whitaker. It isn't known how long production is expected to last, but LucasFilm and Disney have already announced a December 18, 2016 release date. The movie currently doesn't have any other movies opening against it at the box office next December.

Gareth Edwards is directing from a script that was originally written Gary Whitta, and was rewritten by Chris Weitz. It isn't known how long production is expected to last at Elstree Studios, but we'll be sure to keep you posted with any updates regarding the status of Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. This will be the first in a series of spinoffs, with LucasFilm already announcing a Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo Movie, which will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One will be set between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. This is the same time frame where the animated TV series Star Wars Rebels takes place, but it isn't known if there will be any characters that cross over from the animated series. With production just getting under way, hopefully we'll have more details, photos and footage to share as filming continues.
