‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Might Get a December 2015 Release Date

Star Wars: Episode VII may get a December 2015 release date When Star Wars: Episode VII was first announced last October, Walt Disney Pictures revealed they will release this highly-anticipated sequel in 2015. Since every Star Wars movie to date has been released in May, many assumed a May 2015 release would happen, but that may not be the case. Insiders are claiming that Disney is eyeing a mid-December release, possibly December 15, 2015, for Star Wars: Episode VII.

While the move would certainly break a longstanding tradition, it may be a wise choice given how populated the summer of 2015 already is, with The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Man of Steel 2, Terminator 5, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and many more slated for release that summer.

In related news, actor David Prowse, who played Darth Vader in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, revealed in a recent interview he wants to return to play a new character in Star Wars: Episode VII.

"Unfortunately, Darth Vader was killed off. But it would be nice to come back and do another character, because no one's ever seen my face. I was never unmasked."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes to theaters December 18th, 2015.

I see no reason David Prowse should be allowed to be in the next movie now that Lucas is retired. I think they should give any original cast member a role, even if it is not as their original character.

I kind of liked the idea of a million huge flicks all in summer 2015

Good. That will keep it out of the way of The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Man of Steel 2.

Maybe give this guy another role as a Sith Lord. But with a mask.... He's DEFINITELY going to need the mask LOL

Of all the wild unregulated rumors that have been buzzing around lately, I'd say this is the most probable. Disney shouldn't be in any rush to get this movie out and with Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant Man, Inside Out, Finding Dory, and Pirates of the Caribbean 5 already in the lineup, they'll be able to buy plenty of time to give Episode VII an extra half-year for production.
