‘Star Wars Rebels’ Animated Series Announced for Fall 2014

Production has begun on Star Wars Rebels, an exciting, all-new animated television series based on one of the greatest entertainment franchises of all time. Scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

The action-filled series is set between the events of Episode III and IV -- an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. Star Wars Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. Details about the show are a closely guarded secret at this point.

Clone Wars is NOT done let. I talk to a person that went to the Star Wars weekend at Walt Disney world got to see one of the show there call Behind the Force: Star Wars Voices host Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ashley say Clones Wars, Rebels and Esp. 7. mean that Clones Wars will return. Might be on Disney XD. during the show there play clip of Clones Wars. This is a spoiler "yoda in a hospital bed call Anakin to his room and he ask Anakin to escape there, they went for a walk out of the hospital then Anakin sent R2-D2 with yoda took a ship leave few second later Mace Windu come walking in after yoda was leave, Anakin say it was not me it was yoda idea" the clip end there. This last weekend for Star Wars weekend.

@mr-k - Disney got the rights and they pulled the plug at CN. Nuff said :P

They have a history of taking (buying/acquiring) great things and screwing them over. Such things happen when non-artist, "all-about-the-money" execs tell the creative powers what to do. The recent original idea-bankrupt Pixar, for example ...

Monsters U? Planes? Finding Dory? Please ... :P

With the advent of Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph and the upcoming Frozen, it seems the core Disney studio is making a comeback, which is cool, yet odd, if you think about it.

The good thing is that this is gonna be made by the same people that made The Spectacular Spider-Man, so they have another chance at making a spectacular SW animated epic.

@diaigma But Star Wars: Clone Wars was canceled because of Cartoon Network dude (because of the "lack of merchandise" bullsh*t excuse). However, if we are talking on how Disney XD sabotaged the ratings for TRON Uprising and Motorcity, so that they can easily cancel these 2 shows and make more Phineas and Ferb then I do understand your concern. Besides, that project is sadly dead and I doubt Tartakovsky will ever finish that project because he now works for Sony Pictures Animation making the Popeye movie.

Now, if Disney would be kind enough and boot out that *sshole money-hungry whor* Joseph Loeb out of the MARVEL Animation department for canceling 3 good MARVEL animated series then I will hug Disney for eternity. Also, Disney should re-work on the Disney XD block and remove all the pointless, unfunny live-action shows from their line-up.

@ejk1 - it would be unwise if they killed the show with such an unresolved cliffhanger and one season to go, not to mention how crazy successful it is, but then, this is Disney we're talking about. You already know my opinion of their track record :P

F*ck this, I wanted to see Star Wars Detours but Disney obviously canceled it because it was too much adult humor...
