The brand new teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just debuted on Good Morning America and is now available watch right here. Lucasfilm's Rogue One, which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, tells the story of unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. We have new images from the trailer, which give us a better look at the action, along with the trailer again in case you missed it.

The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story cast includes Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed and Wen Jiang. The movie is directed by Gareth Edwards. The script is by Chris Weitz, with the story coming from Gary Whitta and John Knoll based on characters and ideas created by George Lucas. It is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, and Simon Emanuel, executive produced by John Knoll and Jason McGatlin, and co-produced by John Swartz and Kiri Hart.

The trailer includes some important callbacks to Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. It is a period of Civil War. The Rebel's have scored their first major victory against the Galactic Empire after a surprise attack from a hidden base. And It's during this sneak raid that a team of Rebel spies manage to steal the secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon: The dreaded Death Star!

Back in action are the AT-AT Walkers, which traverse an all-new terrain filled with palm trees. We get to see Mon Mothma back in action, and she doesn't look a day older than when we last saw her in the original trilogy. We're also introduced to Felicity Jones's character for the first time. She is a true Rebel named Jyn Oso who is captured by the Rebels and sent on a dangerous mission. In this footage, we see her dressed as an Imperial Gunner.

In the movie, Felicity Jones's Jyn Erso and Diego Luna, rumored to be named Cassein Willix, go undercover and don disguises. Felicity Jones is said to disguise herself as an Imperial Gunner. While she's busy infiltrating that section of the Empire's vast army, Diego Luna will go for a higher commander station and pull on the robes of an Imperial Commander. While the notion might sound a bit goofy, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is said to be much darker and less funny then it's predecessors. And this spy business will be handled with a deft hand by director Gareth Edwards, who is playing this undercover business completely straight.

There's plenty of action and surprises in this first footage. Especially exciting is the return of the original Stormtroopers, whom we see martial arts legend Donnie Yen squaring off against in one very enticing moment. You can get a better look at all this action and excitement in the just release first teaser trailer. We also have the first official teaser poster. What do you think? Is this another classic in the making? Sound off in the comments below.
