While fans eagerly await the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens this weekend, new details have surfaced for the Untitled Gareth Edwards Directed Star Wars Spin-Off, which has already been set for release on December 16, 2016.

If this information turns out to be true, there will be some massive SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk:

First off, LucasFilm would not comment on these rumored plot details, so it remains to be seen how long it will be before we know whether or not this story is true. Some sources acknowledged that this story "is possible" and that "it has a few strings of truth," but it may not be the whole truth. However, if confirmed, this Star Wars spin-off could get even more buzz leading up to its December 16, 2016 release.

The story reportedly centers on a group of bounty hunters who are trying to pull off the most important heist in the history of the galaxy, to steal the plans for the first Death Star. This event literally sets Luke Skywalker on his path to becoming a Jedi in the original trilogy.

It's been rumored for months now that bounty hunter Boba Fett will be the focus of one of the spin-off movies, but it isn't known if he will be included in this spin-off. Regardless if Boba Fett is involved, the Rebel alliance hires these bounty hunters because they have no allegiance to the Empire or any other faction. /Film also reports that the Millennium Falcon is somehow involved in the story, and that the story would "logically culminate mere days before the events" of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. However, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) will not be a character in the film, so it isn't known how the Falcon will be involved. The site theorizes that it's possible the bounty hunters could have stolen the ship, or that Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) may still own it.

The main character in the spin-off will reportedly be introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If this is true, he or she will have to be much older in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which could be Max von Sydow's character. We don't have confirmation of who exactly Max von Sydow is playing, but it's been rumored that he introduces Daisy Ridley's character to Han Solo.

If this is all true, it would explain why LucasFilm hasn't confirmed which characters any of the new actors are playing, or released any official plot details, since one of the characters may be tied in to the first spin-off, which Gareth Edwards is directing from a script by Gary Whitta.
