Stephen Colbert Cameo Revealed in ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’

Back in October 2012, we reported that The Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert signed on for a cameo role in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which is currently playing in theaters worldwide. An eagle-eyed Reddit user named Royal-Dump has found proof of this split-second appearance, where he plays a Laketown spy. Stephen Colbert's wife Evelyn McGee-Colbert and their sons Peter and John Colbert also had cameos in the scene. Take a look at the photo, along with a description of the scene from Royal-Dump.

"Okay, it's right as the dwarves are sneaking into Laketown. Bard's son stops them and says that there are spys watching the house. Shortly after it shows Bard and his Son walking alone and the camera pans to the right and shows Stephen looking at them and he turns his head and his eyepatch falls down."

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was released December 13th, 2013.
