Jackass star Steve-O certainly went out of his way to show his love for aquatic animals this past weekend. The actor and stuntman was arrested on Sunday, August 9 for performing a dangerous stunt in Hollywood to protest SeaWorld and its treatment of animals. Specifically the Killer Whales the theme park keeps in captivity. The 41-year-old performer hinted that he was about to do something very illegal on his Official Instagram on Saturday. At the time, he stated the following.

"This is Shammy. We're gonna do a big dangerous stunt tomorrow in Los Angeles that will probably get me in a lot of trouble, and you can watch it happen at 7pm PST via a live stream on my Facebook page. #SeeYouAt7pmTomorrow #yeahdude."

Steve-O didn't lie. On Sunday, the Jackass star climbed a crane that towered 100 feet over Los Angeles. When he reached the top, he inflated a giant killer whale with the words 'SeaWorld Sucks' scrawled across the front of it. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, who arrived at the scene shortly there after, Steve-O lit a firework or fireworks as he celebrated his stunt.

Steve-O kept track of his stunt on Facebook, where you can see each moment unfolding. He also took a selfie of himself as he was hoisted high above Hollywood. The actor made the climb just as the sun was setting, and he continued to post live updates as he was able to. He even ran an account of the police as they arrived to take him in, counting them off as they entered the construction site where he was pulling off his stunt. He told his fans the following.

"Now I'm really high up in the air. Check my last post to see what I'm up to. I'll broadcast live again soon. I think this is gonna be really f--kin crazy...How many cops do we have? We have one, two...This is pretty exciting. That's the Hollywood sign behind me."

After the incident, in another video, Steve-O asks if any fans want to 'bail him' out of jail. He eventually climbed down the crane himself while a dozen emergency personal, including firefighters and ambulances, awaited him below. He was then quickly taken into custody. It should be noted that this isn't the first time Steve-O has protested against SeaWorld. After watching the 2013 documentary Blackfish, which recounts the tale of a killer whale's confinement and mistreatment, Steve-O felt compelled to speak out against the park. In 2014, he changed a San Diego freeway sign from 'SeaWorld Drive' to 'SeaWorld Sucks'. That time, he was able to avoid being caught. This time he wasn't so lucky. You can see his original Instagram photo, along with a full video that recounts his stunt as it happens.
