Back in September, we reported that Warner Bros. is eyeing Steven Spielberg to direct Gods and Kings. Today we have word that the director has entered into formal negotiations for the biblical epic.

Michael Green and Stuart Hazeldine wrote the screenplay, which tells the complete life story of Moses, from birth to death. The script is based off the Book of Exodus and other stories from the Bible's Old Testament. Our earlier report said that Gods and Kings is not a remake of the 1956 classic The Ten Commandments, which starred Charlton Heston as Moses.

Dan Lin and Matti Leshem are producing Gods and Kings for Warner Bros. If the deal is finalized, it isn't known if this will be Steven Spielberg's next project, since he has several other movies in development.

No production schedule was given for Gods and Kings.
