Warner Bros. is hoping to lure in Steven Spielberg to direct their epic Gods and Kings, which was formerly known as Moses. No formal offer has been made yet, but it is said that the director has read the script written by Michael Green and Stuart Hazeldine.

The story is said to chronicle Moses' entire life span from birth to death. The script is based off the Book of Exodus and other stories from the Bible's Old Testament. Dan Lin is producing alongside Matti Leshem, who wrote the original treatment. It should also be noted that this will not be a remake of the 1956 classic The Ten Commandments, which starred Charlton Heston as Moses.

It is said that Warner Bros.' chances of landing Steven Spielberg to direct are quite slim, since he is already attached to a number of projects, and Warner Bros. would have to partner with DreamWorks. We reported in May the studio was considering Darren Aronofsky for the project, although we haven't heard anything further on his involvement since then.

No production schedule was released for Gods and Kings.
