Warner Bros. is currently in full on promotion mode for their latest DC Comics movie Suicide Squad. After the critical disappointment that was Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the studio is in serious need of some positive buzz, and so far, it looks like Suicide Squad could very well do that for them. One of the main reasons for the hype leading up to the release of the movie is Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, and we just got a look at some newly released concept art for the character in Suicide Squad.

The art was revealed to us by the DC Extended Universe Twitter account, and features two very different looks at Harley Quinn. The first look is much more simple and a bit more revealing, as she is only wearing a tank top that is tied together down the sides, with red and black writing all over it. Her prison jumpsuit is seen bundled on the floor next to her in the image, so it is very possible this is something that we will see in the movie. The other shot is much closer to the costume that we have seen Robbie sporting in the trailers, but with a few differences. For one, she is wearing a top that matches the shorts we have seen her wearing, as opposed to the "Daddy's Lil Monster" shirt (which you can buy at Hot Topic. Outside of that, most everything else looks very similar to what wound up in Suicide Squad based on what we have seen so far.

Fans of the character have noted that the costume that is being used in the movie differs quite a bit from some of the more classic Harley Quinn costumes. The original costume that we came to know from Batman: The Animated Series was a black and red jumpsuit that looked like jester's costume, and this is a very heavy departure from that classic look. Harley Quinn's costume has evolved a lot over the years, but has almost always been some variation of black and red jester (or sometimes nurse) outfit. This new concept art is very different, but also is somehow seemingly pretty true to the character. So far fans seem to be pretty happy with the new look.

Harley Quinn originated as a character on Batman: The Animated Series and then was later ported over to the comics. Her popularity has exploded ever since and she is now one of the most popular characters in all of DC Comics canon. So fans are understandably very excited that she will finally be making her debut on the big screen in Suicide Squad. Here is the official synopsis for the movie.

"It feels good to be bad... Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself?"

The release of Suicide Squad is very near, so we will likely be getting some reactions to the final cut of the movie very soon, and we have high hopes that David Ayer will be able to wash the bad taste left behind by Batman V Superman out of everyone's mouths. The movie stars Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, Joel Kinnaman and Oscar winner Jared Leto as The Joker. Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5.
