Jared Leto went full-on method in his performance as The Joker for next year's Suicide Squad. And by all accounts, it should be the most deranged depiction of this iconic super villain, trumping everything that has come before it. Jared Leto isn't afraid to taut his work before fans and critics have gotten a proper taste. It's a performance he took quite seriously. Making an appearance at Dubai Music Week, he teased that his Joker will have people worried for his sanity.

All throughout the Suicide Squad production, co-stars said that Jared Leto had gone off the rails. He so completely disappeared into his Joker persona, that everyone claims to have never met the real Jared Leto on set. He stayed in character for the entirety of the shoot. And he notoriously sent his co-stars various disturbing gifts, such as a live rat, which went to Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and a dead hog, which wound up on the doorstep of Will Smith (Deadshot).

More than just an 'actor', Jared Leto is an accomplished musician. He fronts the popular rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. During a Q&A promoting his music, he spotted a fan in the audience wearing a Batman T-shirt. And pretended to be afraid of the iconic Bat logo. He then laughed it off, uttering his soon-to-be iconic Joker laugh. He pointed to the fan, and had this to say.

"You're really brave...I can't wait for you to see this - they're going to lock me away in a box after this movie comes out."

Suicide Squad wrapped shooting in Toronto last month. Though, Jared Leto was never spotted on set with the main team when they took over the streets earlier this year. It is believed that The Joker spends a great deal of time in prison, only emerging during the final act, which takes place during a prison riot. None of these story details have ever been confirmed.

David Ayer is directing Suicide Squad from his own screenplay. This will be the first time the Suicide Squad will be seen on the big screen, but there have been other versions of the team that have appeared in other forms of media. The CW's Arrow brought this villainous team to the small screen in Season 2, and last year's animated movie Batman: Assault on Arkham, which went straight to video, featured another version of the team.

The all-star ensemble cast includes Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), and Jay Hernandez (El Diablo). Scott Eastwood and Ray Olubowale also appear in the movie, but their characters have not been revealed. Created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru for DC Comics in 1959, the Suicide Squad follows a group of super villains tasked by the U.S. Government to pull off a secret mission. The catch is that is will be nearly impossible, and most of them, if not all, will return in body bags. If they make it out alive, they will be rewarded their freedom.
