As you surely know by now, Suicide Squad is currently in production in Toronto, with director David Ayer bringing this team of merciless villains to life on the big screen. While there have been several photos and videos taken from the set already, we haven't seen much of Jared Leto, except for the official photo of The Joker and all of his crazy tattoos. Today we have a new rumor from the set, claiming that the actor is staying in character all day long. Take a look at what El Mayimbe had to say below.

"HOT RUMOR! Sources are telling me that Jared Leto is going all out for his portrayal of the Joker in Suicide Squad & that he is staying in character behind the scenes on set. I'm also told his performance will rival if not surpass Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker."

Of course, Heath Ledger won a posthumous Oscar for his legendary portrayal of The Joker in 2008's The Dark Knight, and any comparison to that performance would surely be considered a bold statement. It isn't even known how large his role is in Suicide Squad, but earlier rumors claimed that he spends much of the movie in Amanda Waller's (Viola Davis) prison, until a massive prison riot sequence at the end, where he reportedly runs into his longtime nemesis Batman (Ben Affleck).

That being said, Jared Leto himself is surely no slouch, taking home an Oscar just last year for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club, so it shouldn't be considered impossible for the actor to deliver a performance of the same caliber as Heath Ledger's iconic portrayal. Still, many fans have expressed their distaste in his multiple body tattoos shown in the official photo. But since that's all we've seen of the character so far, we'll have to wait and see how his performance turns out. Do you think Jared Leto is capable of topping Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker?
