Ever since shooting began earlier this month on Super Troopers 2, the upcoming comedy sequel keeps expanding its cast. Today we have word that recent addition Tyler Labine will be joined by Hayes MacArthur and Will Sasso, with the actors playing a trio of Mounties. The Broken Lizard Twitter even showcased the first set photo with all three actors in costume.

The casting news broke at Deadline earlier today. Their report states that Hayes MacArthur plays Mountie Podein, Will Sasso plays Mountie Archambault and Tyler Labine rounds out the trio as Mountie Bellefuille. These Canadian cops are described as "rugged and manly," who all believe that Americans are "obnoxious and oafish." It wasn't revealed how these characters connect to the main characters, played by the Broken Lizard troupe.

These actors join newcomers such as Emmanuelle Chriqui, who plays a French/Canadian cultural attaché trying to improve relations with the United States, and Rob Lowe as Guy Le Franc, the mayor of a town on the U.S./Canada border. They will be joined by Broken Lizard gang, Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske and Steve Lemme. Other original Super Troopers stars such as Brian Cox and Lynda Carter are returning as Captain O'Hagen and Governor Jessman.

Many thought that production had started last October, when Erik Stolhanske sent out the first set photo, which made sense since the original plan was to have the movie be released in the summer of 2016, after they first launched their crowdfunding campaign. Director Jay Chandrasekhar clarified in an interview that they were only shooting a test segment last fall, with filming now under way in Boston. The Broken Lizard team raised a whopping $4.5 million through a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGogo, with Fox Searchlight Pictures set to distribute.

Jay Chandrasekhar is directing from a script he co-wrote with the rest of the Broken Lizard team, with Richard Perello returning to produce. No release date has been given at this time, but we may learn more soon as production continues on the East Coast. Hayes MacArthur most recently starred on the hit TBS comedy series Angie Tribeca. Will Sasso has had recurring roles on Shameless and Another Period, and he will reprise his role as Curly in The Three Stooges sequel.
