Jensen Ackles of Supernatural is working on a project based on DC Comics. Although he won't yet disclose any details, it's now been revealed that Arrowverse's executive producer Greg Berlanti is involved too.

Here's What We Know So Far About Jensen Ackles' Project

The Boys Season 3 Gets Supernatural Star Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy

Recently a schedule for the 2022 SXSW convention in Austin, Texas, lists Ackles as a guest. In the description of his career, the line reads, "Jensen is also developing an Untitled DC Project with Greg Berlanti." During a recent podcast interview, Ackles had this to say: "There is a DC property that I'm currently developing right now with Warner Bros. and some other good partners." However, he didn't give any names and committed to keeping silent because "you don't wanna jinx it."

Berlanti is the producer behind the enormously successful Arrowverse, consisting of interconnected shows based on DC characters like The Flash and Supergirl. However, Berlanti also helps with DC productions outside the Arrowverse, so his involvement in Ackles' mystery project doesn't necessarily mean that Ackles will be appearing in that TV universe. Berlanti currently holds the record for having the highest number of television programs concurrently airing, having worked on 15 shows for the 2019-2020 television season.

This is not the first time that Ackles has had a run with in the DC universe. The actor once starred on Smallville opposite Rosenbaum, playing the character of Jason Teague in the Superman prequel series' fourth season from 2004 to 2005. Ackles also voiced Batman himself for a two-part film series, Batman: The Long Halloween.

However, Ackles is most famous for having played Dean Winchester in The WB/The CW's Supernatural for all 15 seasons that the show was on the air. And he is very familiar with the world of superheroes. After the series ended in 2020, he was very busy. One of the roles he will be playing is the character of Soldier Boy in the upcoming third season of The Boys. Supernatural creator Eric Kripke's live-action adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's superhero comic, which is set to premiere on Prime Video this year on Friday, June 3rd. Ackles is also co-developing a Supernatural spinoff/prequel series titled The Winchesters, in which he will narrate the show in character as Dean.

DC has a ton of characters that are not used as yet, so the possibilities are limitless as far as to what show or identity could be in development. In the meantime, we will have to wait for an official announcement and watch his new role in The Boys Season 3 when it airs on June 3rd, 2022.
