Last month, a new report surfaced that an upcoming Season 11 episode of Supernatural will take the Winchester Brothers (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) into the world of professional wrestling. TV Line is reporting that the show has cast current WWE Superstar Mike Mizanin in this episode, which will be the 15th of this season. The episode doesn't have a current air date, but the show will return to kick off the back half of Season 11 with The Devil In the Details on Wednesday, January 20.

Mike Mizanin, a.k.a. "The Miz," will play Shawn Harley, an up and coming talented young wrestler who has a serious temper, and will do anything to rise through the ranks. Last month's report also revealed that the episode will feature characters such as "Gunnar Lawless," a wrestling legend who is struggling with a lifetime full of regrets, and "Rio," a female wrestling manager who is saddened by so many of her wrestlers passing away from untimely deaths. It isn't known if the show's producers plan on casting any other former or current WWE stars for this episode.

Executive producer Jeremy Carver revealed to the site that the episode is set "in the world of small town circuit wrestling," with the Winchester's investigating a wrestling tour that has been "rocked by some serious mayhem." Some fans have speculated that Arrow star Stephen Amell may be cast in this episode as well, given his well-known affinity for pro wrestling. Last summer, he was part of a "feud" with WWE Superstar Stardust, which culminated in the two meeting in the ring during the pay-per-view event SummerSlam. However, the actor recently debunked those rumors, stating on his Facebook page that he wasn't asked to participate and he wouldn't be available to guest star.

In related Supernatural news, TV Line is also reporting that fan-favorite Jim Beaver is coming back in another Season 11 episode, reprising his role as the Winchesters' late father figure Bobby Singer. He will be joined by Steven Williams' Rufus, a hunter who was killed in Season 6. They will both guest star in the 16th episode of Season 11, and will be featured in flashbacks as the Winchester's look into an older case both Bobby and Rufus investigated, in what would have been Season 5. Here's what executive producer Jeremy Carver had to say about the currently untitled episode.

"[Dean and Sam] are going to be investigating an old case that was once investigated by Bobby and Rufus. There's a lot of great throwbacks to things that happened (during Season 5, including) the wonderful relationship between Bobby and Rufus. That's going to be a really neat episode."

Jim Beaver's Bobby Singer died in Season 7, but he has still been brought back numerous times throughout the past few years. He most recently appeared in the Season 10 episode Inside Man. Steven Williams' Rufus returned for one episode in Supernatural Season 7, but we haven't seen him since then. What do you think about these new casting developments?
