Before shooting The Expendables 2, star Sylvester Stallone will move into the dark action comedy Headshot. This revenge tale, which follows a cop and a hitman who team up, after their respective partners are killed, to take down their common enemy, was originally set to be directed by Wayne Kramer. He has now amicably left the project due to creative differences.
At this time, Sylvester Stallone wants iconic action director Walter Hill, who is behind such classic films as The Warriors and 48 Hours, to direct Headshot. IM Global, who is backing the film, haven't discounted Walter Hill just yet, but they are also looking at several other directors to take on the job.
"Initially, Mr. Kramer was hired to direct a dark comedy; however his vision was much darker and exceptionally more violent than how the project was originally conceived. It was decided that it would be better for everyone to move on and consequently Mr. Kramer was dismissed by producers earlier this week. There were no volatile clashes, it was simply a professional parting of the ways."
"I completely respect Walter's incredible body of work and hopefully this legendary director will become attached to the project."
Headshot is expected to go into production this summer.
