Sylvester Stallone Will Not Reprise ‘Rambo’ in Upcoming TV Series

Sylvester Stallone is not reprising his Rambo role for the TV series Just one day after the news that Sylvester Stallone may reprise his classic John Rambo role for a Rambo TV series, the actor's rep revealed he is not coming back to star. Here's what the actor's press representative had to say in a statement.

"While a television series based on the Rambo property is in development with Entertainment One and Nu Image, contrary to reports, Sylvester Stallone will certainly not reprise his role as the iconic John Rambo for the small screen."

The rep went on to say that the actor may still be involved with the series in a creative capacity, but a deal hasn't been finalized yet.

Sylvester Stallone portrayed John Rambo in First Blood (1982), Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988) and Rambo (2008). Now that Sly is not strapping on the headband once again, who would you like to see play John Rambo in the upcoming TV series?

Rambo was released January 25th, 2008.

I always thought a prequel for Rambo could be interesting as, unlike the monster "how did he become" background reboots like Friday the 13th or Texas Chainsaws, the events that led to Rambo becoming so jaded through war could be interesting to explore, especially if put against the backdrop of the kid he was before they occurred and the foreshadowing of that fighting machine simultaneously dying to emerge from within (something Lucas TERRIBLY screwed up with Darth Vader and Anakin). The only problem I see is how are you going to a) find an actor that mimmicks that troubled, caged intensity Sly brought to the role and b) can you walk that line like he did to portray it as a PSA for the pitfalls but simultaneous natural state of things that is war & those who fight it in our stead?

Hmmm... I was on board for the Beveryly Hills Cop show. I can see a hour long cop show. But 1, I do not see a real good 1 hour long show with Rambo where a story can fully go full circle per episode. 2, I do not see no one else as Rambo then Sly. 3, Give me Rambo V instead of a tv show. Sly has WAY better roid muscles today then when he did Rambo 4. I like it alot, but rather see a Rambo V with a buff Sly then a tv show... Why not make Rambo a Instructor for Green Berets? Becoming like Col. Trautman. But end up having to go on the mission to rescue his favorite "student". Now that sounds like a good story.
