Comedian T.J. Miller, who will next be seen in Transformers: Age of Extinction, is the first actor confirmed for the voice cast of Big Hero 6 for Disney and Marvel.

This will be the first time Disney has produced an animated adventure based on the world of Marvel Comics. The super hero team debuted in 1998 as part of the title Sunfire and Big Hero 6 before getting its own mini-series spin-off. They originated in the pages of Alpha Flight, with a story centering on a Japanese government sanctioned team of super heroes who were at the state's disposal.

T.J. Miller will play Fred in the movie, a character nicknamed Fredzilla for his ability to transform himself into a Godzilla-like creature. He grew up on a S.H.I.E.L.D. base in Japan, but the film will skew this mythology, taking place in a futuristic America. Its not clear if, or how, Fred might tie into the live-action Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Or if he'll even be able to transform into a giant monster.

Back in February, T.J. Miller hinted that he was taking on the role.

"Weird people. I play a dopey, teenage boyfriend in "Gravity Falls." I'm in Disney's Big Hero 6, which will be their big release this Thanksgiving. It ranges, usually it's the stoner-slacker, or you know, a guy who is very immature. Immature but confident."

Fred in the movie will be slightly different from the Fred in the comic books. Here, he will be an aspiring low-budget filmmaker who volunteered to be a test subject for a robot tech lab at Tadashi. He stuck around to later help with the Tech Lab's research, and is described as quirky and weird. The character description doesn't reveal that he can change into an enormous reptile-like monster, but it does state that he likes to dress up in rubber suits and stomp on cardboard buildings.

T.J. Miller is a veteran voice actor, having played a major role in Disney Channel's excellent animated series Gravity Falls. He'll next be heard as Tuffnut in How to Train Your Dragon 2.
