We haven't heard much on Relativity Media's Goliath since Scott Derrickson came aboard to direct the project back in January. It seems casting is getting under way, with Dwayne Johnson in talks to portray the title character, and Taylor Lautner circling the David role.

Goliath will be a family adventure based on the classic David and Goliath biblical tale with modern themes. The story centers on David, a young shepard who tries to save the lives of his fellow villagers when the massive Goliath attacks, seeking the legendary king of the Israelites.

While Dwayne Johnson is in negotiations to portray Goliath, an offer has been made to Taylor Lautner for David, though it isn't known if he will accept the role yet. Twilight producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are attached to Goliath, so it is possible Taylor Lautner may sign on to reunite with those producers.

Scott Derrickson is directing Goliath from a screenplay by John D. Payne and Patrick McKay. It isn't known when production will start on Goliath quite yet.
