Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 seems to be pulling out all the stops, and may include every character ever created for the comic book and cartoon series before it's done. The latest character added to the ensemble line-up is Shredder's daughter Karai. The Martial Arts master and Foot Clan member will now be played by Brittany Ishibashi.

Brittany Ishibashi recently appeared in the Netflix series Grace and Frankie. Her background is mostly in TV, with other recent appearances on Bones and Emily Owens M.D. Her movie credits include The Circle, The Heart Specialist and Revenge of the Bridesmaids.

No story details have been revealed at all for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. And it's not quite known how Brittany Ishibashi's Karai will be utilized, or how big of a presence she will have. The character has gone through many different changes throughout the years. She was first introduced in Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's original comic book series in 1992, where she was a high-ranking valuable member of the vengeful Foot Clan ninja organization. In that run, she was not related to Shredder. But throughout the cartoon and 2010 comic series she was portrayed as either Shredder's adopted daughter or his biological granddaughter. In many of the incarnations, she is also a 'frenemy' of Turtle leader, Leonardo, and the two have a love-hate relationship. This casting report claims that the movie will show Karai as Shredder's daughter.

Minae Noji portrayed Karai in the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but her relationship to Shredder was never explained. Many fans felt the character was underused. This sequel is also bringing in a new Shredder, with Brian Tee replacing Tohoru Masamune. What do you think? Do you like these casting changes, and are you hopeful that Karai will have more to do this time out?
