Paramount Pictures has shifted the release date of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from June 6, 2014 to August 8, 2014. Director Jonathan Liebesman's live-action remake will now go up against Universal's Dracula and Disney's The Hundred-Foot Journey. It will also open one week after Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

The move was made so that the studio could give it more space away from their other big-budget tentpole, Transformers 4, which is set for release on June 27, 2014, but will likely shift to June 25, 2014 since previous movies in the franchise have opened on Wednesday in the past. Since both movies will have immense marketing and merchandising campaigns, the studio thought it would be best to put some distance between the two.

Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard and Noel Fisher star as the turtles, with Megan Fox portraying reporter April O'Neil and Will Arnett playing her cameraman, Vernon Fenwick. Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes is behind both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers 4.
