The Tenet trailer is finally here. After receiving a cryptic spinning teaser and some first-look images, we now have our best look yet at the sprawling movie. Speaking earlier this week, Christopher Nolan called his latest project his most-ambitious to date, which is saying something. Production was spread across seven countries, which is just the tip of the iceberg. For Nolan fans wanting to go in spoiler-free, you don't have to worry. There's more speculation here than anything as we try to unravel the mystery.

John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Elizabeth Debicki star in Tenet, which has some major tones of Inception and Memento at first glance. There's obviously a lot more to unpack, but it's a little hard to figure out what is exactly happening. Christopher Nolan fans were treated to the very first teaser over the summer when the footage was attached to Hobbs & Shaw, but that has yet to officially land online, as of this writing. With that being said, this is the real deal.

The recent Tenet first look photos didn't really show us just how large the scale is, and it's as cerebral as we have come to expect from Christopher Nolan. It's hard not to look at it and not see some ties to Inception. In fact, there have been more than a few rumors suggesting that it's a sequel to the acclaimed movie. However, that has not been confirmed by Nolan and it is more than likely not the case. Nolan has probably made something entirely brand-new that will throw critics and viewers for a loop, demanding a second visit to theaters to properly digest what was shown on the big screen, as was only hinted at in the recent Tenet teasers.

The Tenet trailer only scratches the surface of what this is all about, that is still very much a mystery at this point in time. "We're jumping off from the point of view of an espionage film, but we're going to a number of different places," says Christopher Nolan. The director went on to state, "We're crossing a few different genres in a hopefully exciting and fresh way," which is something that fans of the director have come to expect over the years. In order to get Nolan into doing something, it pretty much has to be outside the box in terms of original storytelling.

Christopher Nolan was recently interviewed and heaped praise on Tenet star John David Washington. The actor is a former professional football player and is a born athlete, which Nolan says helped him in the role for a variety of reasons. However, Washington admits he was skeptical of some stunts, like driving a boat, because he had never done so before. In the end, he made it look effortless, which is what a great actor does. According to Nolan and the first trailer, that's just the beginning of what Washington is going to pull off in Tenet. You can check out the first trailer above, thanks to the Warner Bros. Pictures YouTube channel and the new poster below.
