Best known for his roles on Big Love and in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, actor Douglas Smith has officially joined the cast of Terminator, director Alan Taylor's quasi-sequel, semi-remake of the hit 1984 original sci-fi thriller of the same name.

Character details are being kept under warps, as Paramount's Terminator continues shooting in New Orleans. Douglas Smith joins a cast that also includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and Matt Smith (no relation to Douglas).

Arnold Schwarzenegger is reprising his role as the T-800 Terminator in a storyline that will intersect with the original trilogy, altering the franchise's timeline. No other details about the new film have been released.

Douglas Smith is also taking on a role in the indie drama Evan's Crime. He takes the lead, playing Evan White, a college kid who lands a 7-year jail sentence for a minor drug bust. The movie is being directed by Sandy Tung.
