Paramount has narrowed down their casting search for Kyle Reese in Terminator: Genesis to two actors, Jai Courtney and Boyd Holbrook. Both actors were mentioned as candidates last month, along with Sam Reid (The Railway Man), Wilson Bethel (Hart of Dixie) and newcomer Tom Cocquerel, who has no big-screen credits to his name yet.

Michael Biehn portrayed Kyle Reese in the original 1984 classic The Terminator, a soldier sent back from the future to protect resistance leader John Connor's mother Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), with Kyle eventually becoming John's father. Whoever lands the role will join a cast that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose exact role has not been confirmed, Jason Clarke as John Connor and Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor. No story details have been confirmed yet. It should be noted that, since there is such a big age gap between the 44-year-old Jason Clarke and the 26-year-old Emilia Clarke, it seems likely this story will take place both in the future and some years earlier in the past.

Alan Taylor is directing from a screenplay by Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis, although it isn't known when production may begin. Jai Courtney most recently starred in I, Frankenstein, and he will next be seen in the young adult adaptation Divergent. Boyd Holbrook is coming off of Out of the Furnace, and he also stars in the upcoming movies A Walk Among the Tombstones, Gone Girl and Run All Night.
