The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is nearing the end of its long shoot, with new information leaking today about the film's climax, and the appearance of major characters only previously rumored to be making their debut in this second installment of the Peter Parker saga, which finds the young Marvel superhero searching for more clues about his parents' death.

Do we even need to say that the rest of this story will contain Major Spoilers!?

Turn back now if you wish to know nothing else about the movie's plot.

You were warned, so crybaby it up at your own risk.

Sony Pictures has announced that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 are confirmed, with release dates set for 2016 and 2018 respectively. Its been speculated that director Marc Webb is actually shooting a few scenes for at least The Amazing Spider-Man 3 while he continues moving fast on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and that the two films might even be shot back-to-back.

That has not yet been confirmed by Sony Pictures. The spoilers we've received from deep inside the production are plot points that will be seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but its possible that some of this stuff is actually being shot/saved for The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

There have been numerous complaints from fans that this sequel is just crammed with way too much stuff and far too many villains. We know Electro (Jamie Foxx) is making an appearance, along with Rhino (Paul Giamatti), and Dane DeHaan is starring as Harry Osborn, with Chris Cooper playing Norman. But most people don't think Green Goblin will emerge until The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

Well, we can confirm that Green Goblin will actually be making his big entrance during the climax of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Here is a photo of the glass case that contains Norman after his transformation, which he breaks out of.

This second photo is a mock-up of the Green Goblin glider that the stunt team has been using to practice on. It's a little hard to make out what it is, but follow the black around the edges to get an idea of the shape.

We also have a look at a model of the electronic billboard Electro is thrown into during one of his big fight scenes with Spider-Man. It is revealed that Electro can fly when he is over metal, and he uses this power to fly out of the billboard and around Time Square, exposing himself for the first time to the people of the city.

In terms of the all-important "Parent" storyline that this particular The Amazing Spider-Man franchise revolves around, we will see a flashback to the death of Richard and Mary Parker (Campbell Scott and Embeth Davidtz). More of the mystery is revealed, as we witness Mary getting shot on a plane, which causes the plane to go down in a crash, killing both Peter's mom and dad.

One last interesting tidbit is that Peter's new Spider-Man suit has an mp3 player built into it, so most of the Rochester chase scene we've seen some of in set photos will be set to blasting rock music as though only Peter can hear it in his head, much like the now iconic Library fight scene between Spidey and The Lizard, which saw Stan Lee in a cameo, oblivious with his headphones on, in 2012's first installment.

Does this all sound promising? Or were you expecting more? Are you excited that Green Goblin will be showing up for the big end fight scene in The Amazing Spider-Man 2? Will Gwen live or die? Or is this all leading to one heck of an Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back like cliffhanger?
