From Beenox, the makers of the first The Amazing Spider-Man video game, this all-new third person action adventure will continue the story with an alternative take on The Amazing Spider-Man 2's events. Players will have an enhanced, free-roaming web-slinging experience through a greatly expanded New York City.

Thomas Wilson, Co-Studio Head of Beenox, had this to say about the game.

"The first The Amazing Spider-Man game gave players their own beautifully animated, free-roaming city of Manhattan to traverse and explore - a playground of majestic scale in which to live out our common hero fantasies. And the overwhelming message from fans was: 'MORE!' That's what our team is working toward with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - we're giving gamers more abilities, more upgrades, more challenges, and more freedom to progress. And with the game launching alongside the new movie, offering an expanded interactive experience beyond the film, fans of the franchise won't want to miss playing it."

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, players once again assume the role of the iconic Super Hero in a unique side-story inspired by the feature film but set in its own continuity. Throughout his journey, Spider-Man will encounter a number of new foes as well as some old friends, as he confronts a new threat to his beloved city. The narrative will give Peter Parker, Spider-Man's nerdy photojournalist persona, a greater role in the spotlight, as he investigates the complicated motivations and unique personalities behind the menagerie of Marvel menaces threatening Manhattan.

As Spidey, players will be able to free-roam through a greatly-enhanced Manhattan cityscape, one set to offer livelier, more engaging opportunities with which to put his sensational skills to use. Central to the expansive depth and detail being poured into The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game is the new "Hero or Menace" system, which incentivizes Super Hero behavior by rewarding the web-slinger's crime-fighting efforts, and adds consequences for letting criminality fester. Spider-Man's personal brand of web-swinging and up-close-and-personal combat will see a variety of new features as well.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game is planned to launch alongside the feature film next spring for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, and Windows PC.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was released May 2nd, 2014.

Sweet. Loved the original Spider-Man 2 by Activision which had the free-roaming Manhattan and helicopters to get to Ellis and Liberty Islands. Hopefully it's a lot more non-repetitive crimes than that game, though, cuz that got old fast. All I can say is Beenox did wonderfully on Web of Shadows and Shattered Dimensions, so I give them the benefit.

@jasonkat@Brizzy I agree with you both. As far as comic books be adapated to video games those Arkham's were superior. I loved them (and even though it wasn't really in the same league as the Batmans, The Walking Dead from TellTale games was fantastic.)

I did like the Spidey game based on the first movie. It wasn't GREAT, but it wasn't sh*te either. I had fun playing it.

@jasonkat if you read the article, then your #2 question would have been answered.

As for graphics, this game isn't completed yet. It's only being teased. So the graphics aren't finished being touched-up on yet.

@nickybarnes79 Oh definitely. Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are the best comic-book adapted games every.

                    ok 3 things....

                    1. horrible graphics that must of been a pc version cause it looks like sh*t for a ps3, xbox360 let alone a new ps4.

                    2. Is this based off of spiderman 2 (the movie) or is this gonna be from the new spiderman movie ?

and 3. Sometimes i wish video games were as good as the trailers

rather than have a good trailer and the game itself sucks.
