Adam West just made his long-anticipated comeback as Bruce Wayne in the DC animated feature Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. Fans and critics have been responding well to the movie and a sequel has already been greenlit. But it looks like Adam West is interested in returning to the live action Batman world too, just not as Bruce Wayne. The actor recently revealed that he would like to cameo in Ben Affleck's upcoming DCEU movie The Batman and even stated he who he'd like to play.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Adam West revealed that he would love to have a small role in The Batman. He spent quite a bit of time playing Batman himself in the 60s Batman TV series, but now he wants to play the role of Thomas Wayne in Ben Affleck's new Batman movie. Here is what he had to say about it.

"You know what I'd love to do? Those guys are all wonderful talents in their own ways, and they approach the role differently, but if I could approach it in a darker way, of course, in a more serious way, however, it would be wonderful to play Bruce Wayne's father coming back. You know he was murdered, but coming back one dark and stormy lightning-driven night through a library window. Bruce Wayne is there thinking, 'I'll never solve this. This is the most difficult thing in my life.' In comes old dad, like a bat, almost."

The murder of Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne is and pretty much always has been the driving force for Bruce Wayne in just about every incarnation of Batman to date. So the idea of bringing Thomas Wayne back would definitely be interesting, but not something that is likely to actually happen in the DC Extended Universe. Not to mention that Jeffrey Dean Morgan played the character in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and should Ben Affleck and Warner Bros. even decide to go that route, they could just age him up. All of that being said, the idea of a Adam West cameo is something that fans would likely respond well to. Much like the Stan Lee cameos in the Marvel movies.

There has been a whole lot of excitement, and maybe just as much confusion, about Ben Affleck's The Batman recently. While doing press for his latest movie The Accountant, the actor/director was pestered quite a bit about his upcoming Batman movie for the DCEU. At one point, he seemingly revealed that the title of the movie would be The Batman. However, shortly after that, he seemed to take a step back and make it seem as though The Batman wasn't totally, one-hundred percent happening at the moment. Very recently, he stated that he is still trying to perfect the script and that he needs to be totally confident before moving forward. Joe Manganiello did recently state that he is planning on shooting his part as Deathstroke for the movie in fall of 2017, but Ben Affleck seems pretty non-committal at this point.

There have been a lot of complaints about the current DC Comics movies from fans, not the least of which is the treatment of Batman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Not so much with Ben Affleck's performance, but more with his murderous ways and out-of-character behavior. Bringing in someone like Adam West for a brief cameo would be a potentially great way to honor the legacy of the character and a way to possibly gain some goodwill with fans. As of right now, there is no release date for the movie, but Warner Bros. does have an October 2018 release date that would seem to fit The Batman quite nicely, assuming they actually do start filming next fall. Will Adam West be on set? Only time will tell, but don't bet on it.
