According to The Hollywood Reporter, American Idol is making an encore appearance on DVD, this time in triplicate. Arriving in stores Nov. 22 are three compilations of highlights from the popular show's first four seasons: The Best of American Idol Seasons 1-4The Worst of American Idol Seasons 1-4 and a limited-edition gift set combining the two.

Exactly which segments will be featured in either the best or the worst collections have yet to be determined, said Pete Kalhan, senior vp home entertainment and archive sales at FremantleMedia, co-producer and licensor of American Idol, which is partnering with Capital Entertainment on the release.

"There have been so many memorable moments during the course of the 'American Idol' series that it's hard to select content for this DVD series," Kalhan said. "From some of the funniest auditions we've ever seen to the most inspiring performances, these DVDs will have it all. Fans will not be disappointed." The only previous DVD incarnation of the series is American Idol: The Search for a Superstar, a highlights compilation with bonus materials released in October 2002 by Bayside Distribution.
