Director Catherine Hardwicke (Red Riding Hood, Twilight) has come aboard to direct an adaptation of the Martha O'Connor novel The Bitch Posse.

The story centers on three girls who are seniors in high school and come from broken homes. They form an alliance dubbed The Bitch Posse, which follows them into adulthood. The book flashes back between their high school days and their adult life, where one is in a mental institution, another is a writer and the other is suffering through a bad marriage.

Tristine Skyler will adapt the screenplay which Catherine Hardwicke will direct from. Miranda Bailey, Matthew Leutwyler, actress Virginia Madsen, and Karly Meola will produce.

No production schedule was given for The Bitch Posse.
