Universal Pictures has shifted its Untitled Jason Bourne Sequel, a follow-up to 2012's The Bourne Legacy, from August 14, 2015 to July 15, 2016. The action sequel will go up against 20th Century Fox's Ice Age 5. The studio handed out the original August 14, 2015 release date back in December, although it isn't known why the push to 2016 was made

Jeremy Renner is reprising his Aaron Cross role from The Bourne Legacy, although no other cast members have been announced yet. Justin Lin is directing, with Andrew Baldwin coming aboard last month to rewrite the original script by Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes).

Frank Marshall is producing withJustin Lin, Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith, although no plot details were have been released at this time.

The Bourne Legacy earned $276.1 million worldwide during its 2012 theatrical run, from a $125 million production budget.
